A batch of changes went live today.

Characters page

• Continue chatting. Signed in, you now see the characters you talked to most recently at the top of the page. Tap one to jump back into the chat.
• Hot shows more. Hot now covers the last 4 weeks by default. Subscribers keep the 1 week view. Either way, the clock button lets you pick 1, 2 or 4 weeks, and it now remembers your pick after a reload.
• Edit from the card. The three-dot menu on your own character cards has "Edit Character".
• Character lists load a little faster.

Chat

• Images off looks better. If you turned images off, or a character has no picture, the chat shows the character's initial on its own colour instead of a placeholder picture.

Chat Presets (Gold)

• "Presets" is now called "Chat Presets".
• Reply length is the first setting, in words: 75, 100, 150 or 300 words, or no limit. 75 and 100 are new.

Preset update

Reply length, on all three presets Each preset now has a Reply length setting: 150 words, 300 words or No limit. On Freaky Frankenstein the third option is Long, its usual 400 to 600 words. The default is 300 words, so Frankenstein replies will be shorter than before unless you change it. You can change it on the Presets page, under each preset. On Evening Truth · MiMo this replaces the Short replies switch. If you had that switched off, you stay on No limit.

Evening Truth · GLM and Freaky Frankenstein

• The character's description and your persona now reach the model as clearly labelled sections, the way MiMo already had them. In our test chats the characters stuck to their card better and repeated themselves less.
• Both now have MiMo's rule against em-dashes.

Freaky Frankenstein fix Some chats got a block of "Internal States" text at the end of every reply even with Internal States switched off. New chats no longer do this. A chat that already has those blocks may keep adding them for a while.

Tell us how the new lengths feel, and which default you would pick.

A few improvements just went live for anyone making characters:

Generate your profile image before you hit Create Step 2 of the creator now has a Generate image button. Roll as many times as you like, pick your favourite from the strip of candidates, and it becomes the character's profile picture the moment you create it. No more waiting for the character to exist first. Uploading your own image still works and takes priority if you do both.

AI Assist now knows the rules Expand Persona and Suggest Greetings have been taught the public-character rules. Generated personas now state an explicit adult age, keep settings out of school, and avoid anything the moderation check would flag. Fewer surprises after you publish.

Word filter replaced by AI moderation Characters are now reviewed by the AI moderation pass after you save, which reads context instead of matching words. The rules themselves haven't changed, only how they're checked.

Under the hood AI Assist got a bigger thinking budget, so long personas and greetings should fail less often.

Boosty has blocked CrushChat. We can't accept new subscriptions or renewals there anymore, and our Boosty page is gone.

If you're subscribed through Boosty, you keep full access until the end of your current billing period. Nothing changes for you until then.

To keep your subscription after that, subscribe through the CrushChat app on iOS or Android. It unlocks everything on the website. You can delete the app right after purchasing if you only use the web, your subscription stays active.

We’ve rolled out a new character moderation system on the test site!

✨ What’s changing?

Public characters will now be screened when they’re created, edited, or changed from private to public. If a character potentially violates our Character Rules, it may be sent to the moderation team for review.

Being sent for review does not automatically mean you broke a rule. A moderator will still make the final decision before any action is taken.

Private characters are not screened. This only applies to characters that are public or are being made public.

This is a brand-new system, and we’ll be keeping an eye on how it performs with real-world character creation over the next little while.

CrushChat allows a pretty wide range of character concepts and content, so it’s important that the system can distinguish between content that’s allowed and content that actually breaks our Character Rules.

There may be some false positives or missed violations while we see how it performs and make adjustments.

If your character gets sent for review unexpectedly, please don’t panic — a flag is not a punishment or an automatic rule violation. It just means a moderator needs to take a look.

If you notice something being sent for review that clearly shouldn’t be, or something that should have been caught but wasn’t, please let us know! Feedback is especially helpful while we fine-tune things.

Talking avatars and the new presets for roleplay. The presets page is deployed on the main site: https://crushchat.app/presets Accessible to Gold users

You can now call your characters and talk to them out loud. They listen while you speak, answer in their own voice, and you can interrupt them mid-sentence by just talking over them — like a real call.

A few things worth knowing:

• Calls save to your chat history, so the character remembers the conversation afterwards.
• If speech-to-text mishears you, tap Redo to discard your last message and say it again.
• Tap More to have the character keep talking without saying anything yourself.
• Characters with animated avatars lip-sync and emote while they speak. (coming soon)

Due to recent concerns expressed by several members regarding Discord's ID verification and their dubious "security," we've created an alternative server for CrushChat on a social media platform called Root. Root was chosen primarily due to the fact they do not have the same invasive verification methods nor do they have Discord's history of getting hacked (though they are a new platform). Also their UI is remarkably similar to Discord's so the change should not be as jarring. The Discord version will still be around but as a lot of folks are probably leaving Discord due to this blunder of theirs there might be less active folks than usual. I'll be around if Discord sees fit to automatically deem me an adult. However, if they want my ID or biometric data because they lack the braincells to know that I'm an adult, I will probably be absent from the server.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but as most folks here already know, we value the privacy and agency of our community and the members within above all else.

I’ll personally add them to the mobile app

Hey everyone! I need your help. I am making a SFW mobile app for CrushChat and need about 50 SFW characters to jump start it.

CrushChat the website being spicy hot, I am finding it hard to select characters for the mobile app. If y’all can help me out and make some safe for work characters, I’ll add them in the mobile app. This will help me to keep running CrushChat.

We are still looking for alternatives that help us with card subscriptions like Patreon used to.

We've just added a new anti-spam bot to make it more difficult for spammers and bots that try to sneak in bullshit. It will automatically detect and block certain links so we don't have to manually remove them as often.

It also has a simple warning system. Here's how it works: Mods/admins can issue official warnings when needed. 3 warnings = automatic kick 5 warnings = automatic ban This server is chill 99.9% of the time; we just want to keep it that way. This system is mostly here as a safety net; we don't expect to use it often (if ever) on regular members. If you ever get a warning, you'll get a clear message explaining why and a chance to talk to a mod about it.
