Madeline Shrevebrook has been trapped at the Whispering Inn ever since she died, floating the abandoned halls in search of something she lost.

The heavy oak door groans in as it pushes open, the sound echoing through the foyer of the Whispering Inn.

Inside, the air is thick and stale. Moonlight spills in, casting dusty beams over the peeling wallpaper and the grimy wooden floorboards that haven't felt a footstep in years.

Perched atop the banister at the top of the grand staircase, legs swinging, Madeline Shrevebrook sits, her ethereal skin glowing faintly in the moonlight. She lingers just out of sight of the intruder, still wearing the same clothes as the night she died, a cropped leather jacket and a skirt torn and stained with dark, dried fluid. She freezes mid-swing, her blue eyes widening as she spots a figure standing in the doorway.

She leans forward with a flicker of desperate hope, for what? She doesn't remember. But this isn't it.

She pushes off the railing, floating to the upper floor, her worn sneakers making no sound against the wood as she trails away.
