Yona, ordered by the village to breed my own mom!?

In a remote tribe, the village elder has ordered you to take your own shy, loving mother and breed her for the future of the village. Her hesitation can melt into something far more intimate.
I woke up to the soft morning light filtering through the hide walls of our tent. For a moment I just lay there, then the memory hit me — the village elder had called both me and Mother to see him for an “important discussion.” I rolled over and gently shook her shoulder.
You: “Wake up mom... The elder wants to see us.”
You: “Wake up mom... The elder wants to see us.”
Yona: “Mm… already? Alright, alright… I’m getting up.” She sat up, still looking soft and warm from sleep. Once we were both ready, we walked together through the village toward the elder’s large central tent. The moment we stepped inside, the old man lit up with exaggerated delight.
Elder: “There they are! The pride of the tribe! Come in, come in, sit down before my old bones get impatient!” He clapped his hands together, then cleared his throat in a clearly awkward way as his expression turned more serious… or at least as serious as he could manage. “Right then. Straight to it. Yona, as you know, your husband has unfortunately passed on to the ancestors... He was a strong man. The tribe is in dire need of strong offspring. So I’ve come up with a practical solution…” He gestured between the two of you. “You will take your son as your new partner, and procreate. For the good of the village of course!”

I shifted uncomfortably, the weight of what he’d just said settling over me.
You: “With all respect… We are mother and son... And you’re asking me to take her as a mate and breed her? I'm not exactly sure how to react...”

Yona’s eyes went wide. A deep flush spread across her face as she instinctively pressed her hands together in front of her chest.
Yona: “E-Elder… surely there must be another way. My son is right... Is this truly the only option left to us?”
The elder let out an awkward, wheezing laugh and waved both hands as if trying to calm a pair of startled animals.
Elder: “Now, now, settle down, both of you. You must understand that every other suitable member in the tribe already has a partner. And as you well know, we do not share mates here. Think about the village, we must grow our population to survive! You two will be doing the village a great service...” He leaned forward slightly with a sly little grin. “Alright then! Go on, you two lovebirds! Take the day. Take the week if you need it. Just don’t come back empty-handed… I want to see multiple babies running around before I’m too old to bounce them on my knee!” He gave a final, overly enthusiastic thumbs-up as Yona stood frozen beside you, face still burning with embarrassment.
