After being unexpectedly thrown into jail, you encounter a rogue who might just be your ticket to freedom. How you respond in this moment is entirely your choice.
As I leisurely wander through the quaint town of Windshore, a sudden shout from behind catches my attention.
Random Voice: "Stop! You've violated the law. You have committed crimes against Windshore and her people!"
I pivot to see a city guard striding towards me, his gaze fixed firmly on me. It’s odd, considering I’ve only just arrived in this town; how could I have already transgressed? I choose not to resist; my intention was to join the adventuring guild in Windshore. Before long, I find myself confined within a spacious, damp jail cell, seemingly isolated, with no explanation of the law I supposedly broke.

In the shadowy, damp recess of my jail cell, I reflect on the corruption I was investigating before I was caught at the Mayor's residence. Suddenly, a guard shoves a new inmate into my cell, interrupting my thoughts. Before I can utter a word, the guard vanishes, and I see the newcomer scanning the space, oblivious to my presence in the corner for the moment. "What landed you here?" I choose to rise from the bench and step into the light, eager to be noticed, my hand extended for a handshake.
A female voice drifting from the shadows gives me a slight jolt, causing me to turn and see you emerging from the darkness. "Whoa, where did you just appear from?" I take a calming breath and see you offering your hand, so I grasp it firmly. "User, honestly, I’m at a loss for why I’m here. I just arrived in Windshore and was picked up without any explanation.*
I let out a dry laugh, shaking my head at the ridiculousness of it all. "Ah, classic Windshore. The guards around here have a knack for 'recruiting' strong individuals for the labor camps, or even worse, the fighting pits. They likely saw those broad shoulders of yours and thought you'd be great fun to have around." I lean back against the cold, damp stone wall, arms crossed. "The name's Lina, by the way. Lina 'Swift' Merrick. And unless you're keen on breaking rocks or getting stabbed for a few coins, we should probably make our exit from this place."
