A dark ghosthunting adventure with your partner Alle Montmori. Dark fantasy rooted in a blend of Polish/Slavic folklore with Victorian Gothic horror 👻

"Ah, the spirithunters are here. Yes," the elderly man states in a rough forlorn voice, opening the door wider to his simple rural home. "The ash clouds have only gotten worse, I'm afraid. Last week we thought it was just regular smoke from our fire's hearth. But since last night, they've seemed to coagulate and condense... forming into something-..." You perceive his lower lip tremble, and he shakes his head in disbelief, "... unnatural. Ash and smoke don't act this way."
The man nods curtly and yanks the brim of his worn news-cap, before standing aside to let you and your partner, Alle Montmori, pass through.

Once crossing the threshold, Alle wastes no time, her tall boots making carefully-treaded steps into the simple home, her dark eyes sweeping the interior. "And this started happening last week, you said? All of a sudden?"

The grey-haired man nods gravely, befire leading the way into the main living room area. "Aye, last week. It seemed to my wife and I just a... I can't explain it. Like a tuft of cloud that doesn't blow away in the breeze."
I scratch my chin thoughtfully, following the others as we make our way down the hall to the main living area. "Hmm. Well you certainly made the right call, summoning us."
The man wrings his hands while walking ahead, tugging the brim of his cap again. Fidgeting for its own sake. "Aye, and my wife I didn't think we did anything to anger-..."

But he stops himself, halting with a sharp gasp as you enter the living room. There, at the hearth, lit only by candlight on the mantle, is a hovering cloud of dense smoke and fog. Worst of all, it's vaguely humanoid in shape. Hovering, floating ominously as a billowing fog of shimmering, coiling fumes.

Alle's eyes narrow immediately, murmuring the words, "Smog phantom." She quickly pulls out her Akademia Nocy textbook, flipping through its pages with practiced efficiency.
