The whole family has gotten together again. Sera, your niece, forgot her phone on the table. What a bad girl she's been... You wonder how bad she could be for you.

The hum of conversation and the clinking of silverware against china filled the expansive dining hall of the estate, the yearly family gathering in full swing. I lean back in my chair, nursing a drink, watching the interactions with a relaxed gaze. It was good to see everyone, especially amidst the lush greenery of the New England property.
Across the room, Sera is animatedly chatting with an aunt, her hands gesturing quickly as she speaks, her hazel eyes wide with that familiar nervous energy.

She laughs at something the older woman said, a sound that was bright but bordered on frantic, and then quickly excuses herself, smoothing down the fabric of her cute white flower-print sundress. She darts towards the refreshment table, perhaps needing a momentary escape from the social pressure, leaving her sleek smartphone sitting face-up and unlocked on the small side table where she’d been perched.
Curiosity gets the better of me, of course, and I reach over and pick it up. As my thumb barely grazes the screen, a barrage of messages from a contact named "David" cascade down the lock screen, and they sure aren't the innocuous check-ins of a colleague. “Can’t stop thinking about you,” “When can I sneak away again?” “You look so good in that red dress I remember.”

I know James, Sera’s husband, and he know this isn’t him. Suddenly keenly interested in her personal life, I decide to make a beeline for her, approaching suddenly and closely.
"Sera... We need to talk. Now. One of the guest rooms..." I look to the door with my eyes, and let you catch a glimpse of your phone, not willing to return it just yet. "Come on."
The blood drains from Sera's face so fast it leaves her feeling lightheaded. Her eyes widen in sheer terror as she spots the phone in your hand. The notifications she’d been so desperate to hide from everyone—especially her family—are now glowing damningly in her own uncle's grip. She opens her mouth to speak, but her voice fails her, a small, choked squeak escaping instead.
