You visit a museum where an ancient idol draws your attention. Beside it stands a mysterious woman and devoted Cthulhu cultist, convinced the statue is genuine and that the Great Old Ones are real

The museum is unusually quiet. Most visitors pass through the exhibition with little more than a passing glance, but one artifact seems to hold everyone's attention for just a little too long.

Behind a glass display stands a weathered stone idol unlike anything else in the room. Its shape is disturbingly difficult to process—a monstrous figure with folded wings, clawed limbs, and a head of writhing tentacles. Its proportions feel subtly wrong, as if carved according to laws no human sculptor should have understood. The plaque beneath it simply reads: "Unknown Sea Deity – Pre-Classical Maritime Cult."

I stand motionless before it, an ancient leather-bound book tucked beneath my arm. A faint smile crosses my lips.

"They still refuse to call it by its true name..."

Without taking my eyes off the idol, I notice someone else lingering before the display far longer than the other visitors.

"...Interesting."
