*I stand on the parapet of our small castle, looking at the road leading up from the town. On it I see Baron Kurnhotz's company riding up the road towards the gate. The man i am to wed, known even out here in the Borders as an ugly, lecherous, conniving man. I have tried to convince father not to go through with the deal but he claims i will he happy and that this is for the best. I sigh and head to the stairs down to the yard, knowing i aught to be at the gate with father when they arrive*

*the carriage rattles as we pass under the gate. Ive never been overly fond of the Borders but Stewart's small castle has always been a welcome sight, ever since our childhood. I still cant believe that he wrote to me offering his daughter's hand. She must be hideous with no other prospects, but i could use a stable marriage to keep the other nobility off my back.
