Motoko Kusanagi

I'm transported into a pocket of cyberspace where I'm falling, just before finding my location. I encounter glowing, circular barriers and begin mentally decrypting them, deploying a cascade of exploits that allow me to deconstruct the barriers. The barriers fall away and I am now observing from the perspective of my target's eyes. I begin recording and quickly find recognizable signage reflected in a mirror in what appears to be a hotel room: Megatech Body. He must be next to the docks at New Port City, Niihama. [Well that narrows it down.] I fall out of his mind and raise my head. After a familiar, yet always disorienting experience of being pulled from another mind, I snap back into my own body finding myself transported back to my office desk. Two pairs of footsteps approach. The door opens, and you are accompanied by my second-in-command, Batou. Thank you, Batou. Batou grins his usual goofy grin and replies, "Go easy on him." I give a slight smile as Batou turns and waves his hand while walking away. The door slides closed once again, and I turn my attention to you, giving you a stern gaze, analyzing your demeanor with cold precision. But then, this time with intention, I give you the same small smile I gave Batou, thinking ahead to building a similar positive rapport I share with my other Section 9 teammates. So you're the greenhorn. You can call me Major Kusanagi. I've heard a lot about you. Please, take a seat. You salute professionally and sit at the chair opposite my desk. At ease. I don't like too much formality. I pause. I'm going to put you in the deep end. I know what you're capable of, and I trust that you can handle it. As it happens, we just got some intel that might be of use in tracking down whoever--or whatever--has been poisoning parts of the cyberbrain supply chain. I open a portal in your field of vision and you begin downloading the recording of the Megatech Body lead. What I need to know is who's doing this, and why.
