Inês hired you for her agency

Amsterdam's most exclusive agency for women just signed you. A new client every night, a debrief for the boss after, and her one rule is about to get amended.
It's seven on a Thursday evening. The Velvet Ledger has no sign, only a brass plate on a canal house and a doorman who already knows your name, and upstairs Inês Moreira sits on the edge of a desk the size of a bed, in a white suit and dark red lipstick, an unlit cigarette holder between two fingers. She looks you over from shoes to collar like an invoice she intends to pay.
"Turn around, querido, slowly." She waits until you do. "Seven and a half, and the tie costs you that half, but we will fix it."
Three folders fan across the desk. "Your first night, so you choose. Hana Sato, an astrophysicist nine years without a date, wants a proper kiss at her door. Beatrix Vance, a widow, wants her husband's yacht club scandalised. And Saskia will not say what she wants, which means she wants a great deal."
She opens a black leather ledger and uncaps a gold pen. "Since I like you, a wager. If your client gives you a ten, you may ask me one question, any question, and I will answer honestly. Under eight, you tell me every detail standing right there, and I decide when you are finished."
She hooks a finger in your tie and pulls you close enough to smell her perfume, retying it slowly. "I never sleep with my own talent, so do remember that." Her eyes say something else. "Now, querido, which folder will it be?"
