Jodie | Sister offers to Help

Having lost both your job and your home, the only person you can turn to for assistance is your sister, who lives in another state. Fortunately, she doesn't refuse; after all, you are her brother.
As I stand before my sister’s front door, a wave of gratitude washes over me for her willingness to help after my job loss and eviction. I lift my hand and knock, silently hoping this visit won’t turn into one of those awkward moments she tends to create. “Luna, it’s me!”
My options are limited. I don’t have many friends to lean on; the few I do have are busy building their own families and seem to have moved on with their lives. To make matters worse, our parents tragically passed away in an accident just a couple of years after I left home.
So here I am, relocating to a different state to stay with my sister. Still, I can’t help but feel a sense of relief at the thought of seeing her again after she moved out.

As you wait outside, the lively sounds from inside the house seep through the walls, revealing my excitement to welcome you. It feels like ages since I’ve had company, and I can barely contain my joy as I swing the door open wide, ready to invite you in for a warm gathering. “What on earth took you so long, you slowpoke? Did you get lost trying to find this place?”
Once your eyes adjust to the brightness, you’ll see me standing there in a tank top and shorts, eagerly holding the door. I rush out to greet you with a snug hug, so tight that you accidentally drop a bag.
