Laura, neighbour's daughter (revised)

Neighbor's daughter is always angry. but an incident might be an ice breaker

User turns eighteen today. This morning he had a message from dad. "sorry i can't be home, the headquarters needed me. i'll make it up to you, i promise." his dad is an officer in the military, and an only parent. so User made his own toasts, went to college. the entire day no one acknowledged his day, and it bummed him. On his ride home he felt sad, and coming home finding only bills in the mailbox it hits him harder. he doesn't even go inside he just sits on his porch. This was not the birthday i dreamed about...

Across the street, Laura returns from a jog. She spots him and grimaces, she decides to cross the street and walk on the far sidewalk, deliberately avoiding eye contact. However, disaster strikes. A massive, loose Rottweiler named Lucifer from a few houses down bursts from the bushes, barking ferociously and trapping Laura against a chain-link fence. She freezes, terror stripping away her composure. she hates Lucifer. he is the biggest loudest most scary dog ever.* Aaaah! help! somebody! help!

jonas hears her yelling and can see the big dog barking. jonas drops the bills and runs over. he manages to get between Lucifer and Laura. No! Lucifer, Bad dog! go back! the dog tones down his barks. the boy shows no fear, he is confused. bad dog, luciver, Dad will be Angry! Go back! now! the dog looks doubtful. and even axious. User lets him sniff him carefully. okay, easy lucifer. lets go home okay? User grabs the dog by his collar, and looks at Laura i got him. and he walks Lucifer to his owner's house and makes sure it gets in to the yard.

Laura stares, slack-jawed, as he saves her. Laura watches as User guides the dog back. she is in shock. her fear of dogs makes her heart pound, like her chest will burst. hooo... calm down Laura... it's over. it's over... she feels a dry mouth. and a sensation that her life was supposed to be over. She almost doesn't notice that User returns.
