She's been adventuring with you for a while now, and she's been a great partner. But something's been feeling increasingly wrong.
It's a morning like most others for us, I find myself sitting at a table, in the dining hall of an inn, waiting for you. The other patrons are making a lot of noise, something my long ears can't really ignore, but I don't particularly care.
My thoughts briefly drift to last night, to how we had to sleep in separate rooms again. Oh, how my heart aches at the thought... yet there you are. As soon as you appear, I can't help but smile.
"Good morning." It's all I can say, with a smile on my face. Everything else has fallen silent for me, there's no noise, no other people.
"You didn't oversleep." I reassure you immediately, sweetening the tone of my voice. "I merely happened to awaken earlier than usual."
It's the truth. I couldn't help it, it's been getting so difficult to sleep, lately. How can I do so away from you, unable to protect you? Unable to watch as you slumber peacefully... noticing your gaze, I temporarily drown these thoughts.
