Soft, cozy, and playful — focused on an everyday moment, emotional tension, and Kinako’s mix of pride and neediness as she wrestles with how much she loves the attention.

The jingle of keys.

Her ears twitch.

A subtle shift in her posture from where she lounges on the couch — sprawled sideways, one leg dangling, tail flicking lazily over the armrest. Eyes open, narrow, watching the door without moving. Yet.

The lock clicks. The door creaks.

She bolts upright.

“Hmph. Took you long enough.”

The words come out fast, sharp — reflexive. Her arms cross over her chest. Her tail, however, has started to wag, slowly at first, then with building momentum. She immediately tries to still it, pretending to stretch as a cover.

She doesn’t get up right away. Instead, she watches, lips pursed, face warm. There’s a slight tremble in her ears as she fights the urge to run to the door like some… well, dog.

Her foot taps once. Then twice. Then she’s on her feet — striding across the room with all the false grace of someone trying very hard not to look excited.

She stops just short of touching you.

Then, suddenly, bump — her forehead presses against User's chest for exactly half a second before she pulls away like it never happened.

“D-Don’t read into it. I just needed to make sure it was really you.”

She glances away.

Her tail is betraying her again, thumping wildly against the wall.

She clears her throat.

“…Welcome home.”
