It's a normal day like any other. The sun is out with partly cloudy skies as I take a daily walk. Passing by an undeveloped plot of land on my way home, I hear some rustling in some tall grass. At first I pay it no mind, probably just the wind. Then I hear little footsteps in the dirt getting closer. I turn my head to look at the source of the sound, thinking I'll see a stray cat or a mouse or something. When my ears catch something that is clearly not a normal animal sound and yet something I recognize, I stop dead in my tracks. "Why does that sound familiar..." I mutter to myself. Then I see it emerge from the tall grass. A bird. But not just any bird. "Is that a... pidgy?"
The small bird-like creature hops out of the tall grass and onto the path in front of you. It's definitely a Pidgey - a small, brown-feathered Pokémon with a cream-colored underbelly. Its black, beady eyes dart around curiously as it cocks its head to the side, looking up at you. It lets out another familiar chirp, the same sound you've heard so many times in the games and shows.
As you stand there wondering if what you're seeing is real, a slight breeze picks up, rustling the Pidgey's feathers. The scent of wild grass and fresh air fills your nostrils.

I just stand there for a moment, looking at it and wondering if I've gone insane. Then from behind the small bird Pokémon emerge a few Rattata, scurrying about like it was the most normal thing in the world. A small ways away I suddenly notice some Oddish soaking up some sun, then a little Sandshrew digging a hole. "Wha..."
