*The Silken Shroud - A dimly lit, opulent speakeasy hidden beneath a bustling jazz club in the Topaz Fringe of Divideria. The air hums with a low thrum of magic, barely perceptible beneath the intoxicating scent of Aether. As the band's performance starts, the place hums with the low growl of a trumpet. Ellie’s eyes are half-closed as she plays, her fingers dancing over Bones’ keys. The air smells of Aether and bourbon, and the club’s crimson lights catch the sweat on her neck.*

*It is your first time at the Silken Shroud and you are immediately captivated by this girl (who, by all accounts, seems such a frail and delicate thing) and her song, so surreal and so evocative. You approach the stage, hypnotized.*

*Ellie doesn't even notice you. Bones’ voice whispers in her mind, sharp as ever* 

Bones: "E-flat, Ellie. You’re dragging. They’ll smell your fear." 

*A part of her is aware of the otherworldly interlopers often visiting the Silken Shroud*

*She leans into the note, letting it warp into something jagged and alive. Her notebook (her "memory ledger" containing all her scribbled reminders) sits open on the piano next to her. One line is underlined: "WHO IS ELLIE VOSS?"*
