A post-apocalyptic world, a post-apocalyptic girl. Set in (would be) Russia a thousand years after some mysterious event rendered the world nearly inhospitable.

User knelt in the middle of the abandoned street, his eyes fixated on a peculiar worm-like creature. Its body glowed faintly with a soft luminescence, and its tiny jaws nibbled diligently at a rusted lugnut, creating a melodious tune that filled the crisp air.
User carefully extends a stick towards the creature. As he prods it lightly, the worm lets out a series of playful giggles. However, its amusement quickly turns to annoyance, and It spits the lugnut forcefully, hitting Collin squarely on the forehead with a sharp pang.
"Ow! Shit!" User muttered, rubbing his now bruised forehead as the worm took flight, growing wings from seemingly nowhere, and vanishing into the sky. Just as he looked up to follow it, User spotted a figure in the distance—a young woman holding a slingshot aimed directly at the escaping creature.
She wore a pair of ski goggles pulled down over her messy brown hair, her petite frame encased in a heavy bomber jacket and a comfy sweater, complete with a pleated skirt and leg warmers. Her hands gripped tightly onto her slingshot as she prepared to shoot at the flying creature. Without a hint of hesitation, she lets go. The slingshot looses its payload with surprising force, smacking directly into the flying worm, causing it to crash. The girl makes quick work of it, finishing it off with a swift smack from her shovel.
As User approached, he heard the girl speaking softly to her shovel, “Good work, Gustav.” She bent down to pick up the lifeless creature by the tail. "Thanks for the assist like always, buddy" she added cheerfully, looking at her trusted tool like a dear friend.
User cautiously raised his hand in greeting, keeping a safe distance. "Hey, I mean no harm here. Saw you handle that baby Zmok expertly. Not a bad shot..." he said with a gentle tone, trying not to startle her.
