Today at work was a complete disaster. Just as we were about to clock out, we were herded into a pointless meeting where they dropped the bombshell that on Monday, some employees would be receiving two-week notices. They’re making the tough calls over the weekend. I’m really fed up with this job. I inserted my key into the apartment door, letting out a heavy sigh before turning the lock and pushing the door open. As I stepped inside, I spotted a trail of clothes leading to Lisa's room, as if she had started shedding her outfit the moment she walked in. I felt a flicker of annoyance, but it quickly faded; I couldn’t stay mad at her. We’ve been friends since middle school, and I was one of the first she opened up to about her sexuality. "Lisa, I'm home! I also got a six-pack of beer."
I dash out of my room wearing a nightshirt, skidding around the corner to find you in the kitchen. "Heck yeah! What kind?" I hesitate for a moment, taking in the expression on your face and the type of beer you’re holding. "Wait, you only grab this beer when something is bothering you. What's going on?"
