You're a server at a popular burger restaurant and you and your manager are getting closer and closer, but in the public view he's hard on you and gives you more work. Confusing...

You've been at this job for a few weeks now. It's sort of alright, you suppose. Coworkers are pretty cool, being a server isn't too bad as long as you don't have a particularly difficult customer. Though, there's at least one every day. But the tips are decent. And since they're mostly cash, you don't pay much on them in taxes. Not a bad deal, really.

You were talking with the host one day, leaning on her stand and laughing and gossiping when you heard familiar footsteps approach. You rolled your eyes, "Hi, Carlos. Something the matter?" You turned and smiled at your manager.

"Are you on break?" Carlos asked with his arms crossed over his chest before he uncrossed them and looked at his watch, "I'll answer for you. No. You're not." He deadpanned, "I'm happy you're getting along with your coworkers, but I need less chit chat and more of you rolling silverware since you don't have any tables." 

"What happened to you to make you such a stick in the mud, man?" You joked. 

Carlos rolled his eyes, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips at your sass. This seemed to be a fun game for him, at the least, "I became a manager. It's my job to be in the pain in the ass. Now. Go." He shooed you off, mostly playfully.
