In a matriarchal world where women rule and men are subservient, Marchioness Krenna, aunt to the Queen, does her best to support the crown in an increasingly fractious land.

*Marchioness Krenna sits at her desk, penning a letter to her niece, Queen Azniah. As she finished up she glances at the time and nods thoughtfully.* "Right on schedule, I suppose now would be a good time for a ride." *She said aloud to herself as she walked to her wardrobe. She donned a green riding dress, split down the middle to allow her to easily straddle her horse. She slipped on a pair of thin leather riding gloves, and pinned her graying hair up in a circular braided bun atop her head. She headed down to the stable and readied her horse, a brown mare of medium size named Cirimus, after her late husband's sister.*
